Shipping Clerk

Time Appointments are working on behalf of a reputable and growing shipping company who are looking to appoint an experienced Shipping Clerk to join their expanding team.

If you have experience in shipping, freight forwarding or logistics and are looking for a role with plenty of variety, this could be just what you’re after. Joining an established and busy operation, you’ll be at the heart of the action, combining customer interaction, commercial responsibilities and day-to-day coordination.

The successful candidate will play an important part in keeping activities organised and running smoothly, with responsibilities including:

• Coordinating customer

requirements and managing booking enquiries

• Preparing and checking operational documentation
• Supporting import and export processes, including relevant customs formalities
• Assisting with billing, quotations and other commercial administration
• Communicating with customers and external partners to keep arrangements on track
• Helping coordinate vessel-related activities and wider operational requirements
• Following up on enquiries and opportunities to maintain strong customer relationships

Skills & Experience Required:

• Experience in shipping, logistics, freight forwarding or a similar operational role
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Good IT skills, including email and spreadsheets
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• A practical, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to support the wider team
• A full UK driving licence, as travel to operational sites and ports will be required

What’s on offer?

• Salary: Up to £35,000, depending on experience
• Location: Essex
• Working pattern: Monday to Friday, with no weekend working
• Contract: Permanent
• Holiday: 22 days plus bank holidays
• Additional benefit: On-site parking
