Role Overview

An inspiring primary school in Wandsworth is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and nurturing Year 1 Teacher to join their Key Stage 1 team ASAP. In this pivotal role, you will guide young learners through the foundational transition from Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) into Key Stage 1. You will create a rich, structured, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, early literacy, and numeracy development. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers are equally encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality, differentiated lessons aligned with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum.

• Lead daily systematic synthetic phonics lessons to build reading fluency and prepare pupils for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check.

• Establish smooth classroom routines that support child-initiated learning alongside structured academic tasks.

• Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to ensure tailored support for pupils with SEND or EAL needs.

• Maintain open, encouraging communication with parents and carers to promote home-school learning partnerships.

Key Requirements

• Recognized UK teaching qualification with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).

• Proven teaching experience or strong placement record within Key Stage 1 or EYFS.

• Strong proficiency in accredited phonics schemes (e.g., Read Write Inc., Little Wandle, or Sounds-Write).

• Excellent classroom management skills and a warm, child-centred approach.

• Legal right to work in the UK.
