Senior Sous Chef

?? Luxury Hotel & Events Venue, Wokingham, Berkshire

?? Up to £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)

? Permanent | Full-Time | 45 Hours per Week

We are recruiting for an experienced and passionate Senior Sous Chef to join a busy hotel, restaurant, and events venue in Berkshire.

Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional food quality across restaurant, bar, and banqueting operations. This position is primarily focused on the evening shift (2:00pm to 11:00pm) and requires a confident leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can maintain high standards during busy service periods.

• Support the Head Chef with both kitchen operations and administrative duties.
• Lead and manage evening restaurant and bar service.
• Coordinate and deliver banqueting functions alongside daily service requirements.
• Run the pass confidently during busy la carte services.
• Ensure food is prepared and presented to the highest standards.
• Train, develop, and motivate kitchen and front-of-house teams.
• Conduct menu tastings and assist with client meetings when required.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, allergen, and hygiene standards.
• Support stock management, food cost control, and GP targets.

• Previous experience as a Senior Sous Chef or experienced Sous Chef within a hotel, events, or banqueting environment.
• Strong experience using Rational ovens and delivering large-scale plated functions.
• Calm and organised approach under pressure.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of kitchen management, food costing, and gross profit control.
• Ability to mentor and inspire a team to consistently deliver excellent food.
• Advanced Food Hygiene Level 3 certification and strong allergen awareness.
• Experience using hospitality management systems and Microsoft Office packages.
• Full UK driving licence desirable.
