CLASS 2 SKIP DRIVER – PORTSMOUTH / FAREHAM / SOUTHAMPTON

SRG Recruitment are looking to recruit experienced and professional Class 2 Skip Drivers / LGV Drivers for our clients based at our Portsmouth, Fareham and Southampton sites.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver who is looking for a varied driving role within the waste management, recycling and logistics industry.

The role of LGV / Class 2 Skip Driver involves:

Collecting and delivering skips to and from customers, businesses and commercial sites.

Carrying out skip collections and exchanges safely and efficiently.

Delivering and collecting empty and full skips.

Loading and unloading skips using skip loader equipment.

Operating skip loader / hook lift equipment where required.

Securing loads correctly and ensuring all loads are transported safely.

Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects.

Ensuring vehicles are kept clean, safe and roadworthy.

Delivering waste to designated waste transfer stations, recycling centres and landfill sites as directed by the Traffic Office.

Following assigned delivery and collection routes.

Completing multiple collections and deliveries throughout the working day.

Liaising with customers and site staff during collections and deliveries.

Providing excellent customer service at all times.

Completing delivery notes, collection paperwork and electronic records.

Using a PDA / handheld device to record collections and deliveries.

Following all relevant waste, transport and environmental regulations.

Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.

Reporting any issues, delays, incidents or vehicle defects to the relevant team.

Working closely with the Transport and Traffic Office to ensure efficient daily operations.

THE IDEAL LGV / CLASS 2 DRIVER

Previous experience as an HGV Class 2 / LGV Driver.

Previous skip driving, waste collection or waste management experience is highly desirable.

Experience operating skip loader equipment would be advantageous.

Experience with multi-drop deliveries and collections.

Full Class 2 / LGV driving licence.

Full Driver CPC qualification.

Valid Digital Tachograph Driver Card.

Good knowledge and understanding of Drivers' Hours and Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations.

Good geographical knowledge of Portsmouth, Fareham, Southampton and surrounding areas.

Reliable, flexible and adaptable.

Hardworking and conscientious.

Professional and responsible approach to driving.

Polite, courteous and attentive when dealing with customers.

Positive, motivated and proactive.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Good timekeeping and organisational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a busy transport team.

Good awareness of road safety and vehicle safety.

Ability to complete daily vehicle checks and maintain high safety standards.

Comfortable using a PDA and other electronic delivery systems.

Good understanding of safe loading, unloading and load security.

Clean driving licence preferred, although previous driving experience will be considered.

The role can involve regular driving, multiple collections and deliveries, customer interaction and working across a variety of commercial and waste sites.
