Job Description:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager plays a pivotal role leading the

regional control team at the Southwest Regional Service Centre. As a key member of the

leadership team, the Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the General Manager in

ensuring efficient service delivery, maintaining commercial performance, adhering to budgetary

targets, and upholding legal compliance alongside the General Manager.

In the absence of the General Manager, the Operations Manager assumes leadership and

decision-making responsibilities.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Preparing, reviewing, and implementing standard procedural documents for daily

operations.

  • Direct line management responsibility for the Regional Controllers at the Regional

Service Centre, covering all aspects of line management which will also include

conducting appraisals and identifying development and training needs,

  • Reviewing periodic reports and adjusting operations to better meet company goals.
  • Supporting the General Manager in maintaining profitability of the operation – ensuring

that the business delivers / exceeds budgeted profitability to EBITDA level.

  • Operational performance and service delivery within customer SLA’S and business

targets.

  • Supporting the General Manager in implementing continuous improvement programs to

support commercial and service performance growth.

  • To manage, mitigate and plan contingencies to avoid risk to the business.
  • In conjunction with UK Head Office, ensuring compliance with local labour and health

and safety laws and Human Resources and Payroll requirements.

  • Ensuring compliance with the Company’s Business Code of Conduct, specifically; adhering

to and observing Company ethics and the appropriate standard of behaviour expected by

employees and third parties, reporting any concerns promptly through the correct

channels.

  • Taking ad hoc escalation calls for business critical issues out of hours.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
  • Has a broad background in Logistics services, particularly in the Sameday courier and

spare part supply chain environment and has a broad knowledge of the IT sector and

technology vendors.

  • Understands health and safety best practice and legislation.
  • Has some degree of experience in managing and developing successful teams.
  • Has a proven track record of working with contractors and managing third parties in line

with KPI’s and SLA’s (an understanding of IR35 would be advantageous)

  • Can demonstrate skills and qualifications in Performance Management, Staffing,

Management Proficiency, Developing Standards, Process Improvement, Decision

Making, Strategic Planning, Quality Management.
