Supplier Quality Engineer

Our client, a leading organisation in the automotive and advanced technology sector, is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join its Quality department on a contract basis. This role will support supplier quality activities across a range of commodities, helping to develop a reliable supply chain that delivers conforming products on time and to the required standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead supplier quality activities, including supplier assessments, audits and site visits

Support suppliers in meeting quality, technical and production

requirements

Manage non-conforming products, concessions, containments and corrective actions

Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities using methods such as 8D, 5-Why and Ishikawa

Develop supplier performance monitoring systems and support continual improvement across the supply chain

Act as the day-to-day point of contact for supply chain quality concerns within assigned programmes

Build effective supplier relationships on technical matters, development parts and production processes

Support engineering change requests, Design for Excellence activities, component releases and risk-based supplier development

Requirements

Experience in supplier quality engineering or a related quality engineering role within the automotive or manufacturing sector

Strong knowledge of quality engineering, supplier audits, non-conformance reports and concessions

Experience of reviewing PPAP documentation and leading APQP activities

Understanding of quality management systems and standards, such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA, AS9100 or similar

Proven experience in problem-solving and implementing permanent corrective actions

Relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams

Ability to prioritise activities using risk management principles and travel nationally or internationally when required
