Financial Controller

Our client is seeking a hands-on and proactive Financial Controller to take ownership of their day-to-day finance function.

This is an exciting opportunity to bring finance operations in-house, improve processes and support the continued growth of a business.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping, ledgers, reconciliations and financial records using Xero.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets and cash flow forecasts.
• Manage invoicing, credit control, supplier payments and staff expenses.
• Oversee monthly payroll, pension contributions and HMRC submissions.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns and year-end information for external accountants.
• Maintain effective financial controls and improve finance processes.

Key Attributes

• Experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Senior Bookkeeper or similar within a UK SME.
• Strong Xero, Excel, management accounting and cash flow forecasting skills.
• Working knowledge of UK payroll, VAT and HMRC compliance.
• AAT, ACCA or CIMA qualified/part-qualified, or equivalent practical experience.
• Highly organised, accurate, proactive and confident communicating with stakeholders.
