JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you a qualified HGV Technician available for an immediate short-term contract in the Bristol area?

We are recruiting an experienced Heavy Vehicle Technician to provide temporary engineering cover within a busy commercial vehicle maintenance operation.

The preferred working pattern is 4 on / 4 off, with both day and night shifts available. However, the employer is also willing to consider strong technicians who cannot fully commit to the standard shift pattern.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced contractor looking for immediate work with a major commercial vehicle organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs
• Completing scheduled vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
• Identifying and rectifying vehicle defects
• Preparing vehicles for MOT and statutory inspections
• Completing maintenance documentation accurately
• Ensuring all work meets DVSA and company standards
• Working efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime
• Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety and workmanship

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To be considered, you should have:

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent Heavy Vehicle qualification
• Proven experience working as an HGV Technician or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
• Strong servicing, maintenance and diagnostic experience
• Good knowledge of DVSA inspection and maintenance standards
• The ability to work independently within a busy workshop environment
• Availability to start at short notice

Previous main dealer or VMU experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

SHIFT OPTIONS

Preferred shifts are:

Day Shift: 06:00 – 18:00

Night Shift: 18:00 – 06:00

4 On / 4 Off

Candidates with alternative availability are still encouraged to apply, as different working arrangements may be considered for the right technician.
