Successful candidate will lead the bid process for rail and infrastructure opportunities, from the first qualification decision through to a winning submission.
The Role
- Leading the end-to-end bid and tender process for rail and infrastructure opportunities, from bid/no-bid decisions through to submission and post-submission clarifications.
- Planning and managing bid programmes, coordinating inputs from operations, commercial, engineering, planning and health and safety teams to hit every deadline.
- Writing, editing and quality-checking high-scoring tender responses, method statements, case studies and executive summaries.
- Working with estimators and commercial colleagues to develop competitive pricing and win strategies, aligned to client evaluation criteria.
- Managing pre-qualification questionnaires, framework applications and supplier assurance requirements for rail and infrastructure clients.
- Building and maintaining a library of bid content, case studies and lessons learned, and supporting the wider pipeline and business development effort.
- Supporting the delivery team to present the offer across its divisions, including electrification, civil engineering, permanent way and airports and stations.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Bid Manager or Senior Bid Writer within rail, infrastructure, civil engineering or a similar construction sector.
- A track record of leading and winning tenders, frameworks and PQQs, with strong written skills and an eye for detail.
- Understanding of rail and infrastructure procurement, including client evaluation criteria, quality and price weighting, and supplier assurance schemes such as RISQS.
- Confident coordinating technical and commercial contributors, and managing multiple bids to tight deadlines.
- Strong commercial awareness, and the ability to translate technical delivery capability into persuasive, compliant submissions.
- APMP qualification is desirable but not essential. Full right to work in the UK.
