Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Ocean Import Coordinator to join a busy freight forwarding operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing ocean import shipments from origin through to final delivery, ensuring all shipments are handled efficiently, cost-effectively and in line with customer requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in ocean freight imports who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, building customer relationships and coordinating international shipments.

Salary: Up to €42,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate ocean import shipments from origin through to final delivery.

Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers, customs agents and customers.

Monitor shipment progress and provide regular updates to customers.

Prepare and process import documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Coordinate customs clearance and ensure all relevant documentation is available.

Track vessel arrivals, manage delivery schedules and resolve any delays or operational issues.

Obtain and review freight rates, ensuring competitive pricing and cost control.

Manage customer enquiries and resolve shipment-related queries promptly.

Process invoices, check supplier costs and ensure accurate customer billing.

Maintain accurate shipment records and update internal operating systems.

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and overseas partners.

Ensure all shipments comply with relevant customs regulations and international shipping

requirements.

Skills and Experience

Previous experience working within ocean freight imports in a freight forwarding environment.

Experience must be with a UK-based freight forwarder.

Good understanding of ocean import procedures, shipping documentation and customs clearance.

Experience liaising with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers and customers.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Good attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines.

Confident using freight forwarding systems and Microsoft Office.

A proactive approach to problem-solving and resolving operational issues.
