Senior Accounts Assistant

I am currently working with a well-established organisation in Cambourne who are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to take responsibility for the day-to-day finance function.

This is a varied, hands-on role that would suit someone who enjoys having ownership of a broad range of finance duties rather than being one small part of a larger finance team.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and transactional finance activities, working across both accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Key responsibilities

Processing supplier invoices and maintaining accurate purchase ledger records

Raising and processing customer invoices and maintaining the sales ledger

Allocating receipts and monitoring outstanding customer balances

Processing supplier payments and assisting with payment runs

Reconciling supplier statements and resolving any discrepancies

Processing employee expenses and maintaining supporting documentation

Completing regular bank reconciliations

Maintaining accurate bookkeeping and financial records

Responding to supplier and customer queries

Assisting with routine month-end activities and reconciliations

Dealing with general finance administration as required

Taking ownership of the day-to-day transactional finance function

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience in an accounts or finance role, ideally with exposure to both AP and AR

Good practical bookkeeping and transactional finance experience

Experience of working independently or in a standalone/small finance environment

Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work

Good Excel skills and confidence using financial systems

Good communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with routine finance queries

A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved across all areas of the day-to-day finance function

This is a good opportunity for an Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper who enjoys a varied role and would welcome the opportunity to take ownership of a broad range of day-to-day finance responsibilities. The role would particularly suit someone who has worked in a small finance team or standalone finance position and enjoys being involved in all aspects of the transactional finance function.
