Pay: £18.63–£25.42 per hour PAYE, including Holiday Pay
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Shunter to work at a busy NDC in Bedford .
This is a Temp to Perm opportunity , offering regular Monday-to-Friday work with the opportunity to move into a permanent position for the right candidate.
The role would suit an experienced Class 1 Driver, HGV Driver or Shunter who is confident manoeuvring and positioning trailers within a busy distribution centre yard.
Pay Rates- Day rate: £18.63 per hour
- Night rate: £21.09 per hour for hours worked between 22:00 and 06:00
- Overtime: £25.42 per hour after 42 hours
- PAYE rates include Holiday Pay
- Monday to Friday
- 12-hour shifts
- Start times of 17:00 or 18:00
- Regular ongoing work
- Temp to Perm opportunity
As a Class 1 Shunter, your duties will include:
- Shunting trailers around the NDC site
- Moving and positioning trailers safely within the yard
- Coupling and uncoupling trailers
- Carrying out vehicle and trailer safety checks
- Working safely in a busy distribution environment
- Following site procedures and health & safety requirements
- Liaising with the warehouse and transport teams where required
- Valid HGV Class 1 / C+E licence
- Previous Class 1 shunting experience is essential
- Experience working within a busy depot, distribution centre or NDC environment
- Good knowledge of yard safety and trailer movements
- Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious
- Comfortable working 12-hour shifts
- Good communication skills
- Monday to Friday – no weekend work
- Temp to Perm opportunity
