Warehouse Packing Operatives
Job Description & Overview
Job Advert: Warehouse Packing Operatives – 2 Positions
Pay: £13.00–£13.50 per hour
Hours: Monday–Friday, 1:00 pm–5:00 pm (20 hours per week)
Start: As soon as possible
Contract: Ongoing, with potential for temp-to-perm
The Role
We are looking for two reliable, careful and experienced Warehouse Packing Operatives to prepare branded customer orders for dispatch.
This is a packing-only role. Orders arrive at the bench already picked, with shipping labels printed. Picking, label printing, Royal Mail bagging and manifest preparation are handled by our team.
Key Responsibilities
Match each printed shipping label to the correct order and check product, colour/size and quantity.
Assemble branded boxes, stamp the logo, secure the base and arrange wrapping paper.
Pack products carefully, ensuring tags are tucked in and items are presented neatly.
Add the correct free gift, any additional items specified in the order, and a thank-you card.
Fold and seal the wrapping paper, close and tape the box, and apply the correct shipping label.
Tick off completed orders, move parcels to the designated hand-over point and keep the packing bench tidy.
Maintain an agreed hourly packing target while prioritising accuracy and presentation.
Essential
Requirements
Previous warehouse or packing experience.
Excellent attention to detail and pride in presentation — every parcel is a gift.
Ability to work efficiently to a visible hourly target.
Reliable attendance and availability for afternoon shifts.
Sufficient English to understand and follow written procedures and safety instructions.
Own transport is advantageous.
Working Conditions
Monday to Friday, 1:00 pm–5:00 pm; arrival required by 12:50 pm.
Light packing work, with parcels generally under 5 kg, including soft toys.
No forklift or PPT operation and no routine heavy lifting.
Safety cutter and logo press used following induction and training.
No long shifts at present.
Quality, Targets and Safety
One order at a time: never have two orders on the bench together.
The label must stay with its own order throughout packing. Never swap labels or guess if something does not match.
Missing, damaged, marked or damp items must be reported to the site lead before packing continues.
Damaged boxes or smudged logos must be replaced.
Quality takes priority over speed; incorrect packing carries a significant quality penalty.
Hourly targets are agreed during training, confirmed on day two and monitored by the site lead.
Customer names and addresses must remain confidential. Photographing labels or paperwork is prohibited.
Follow all site safety procedures and report injuries or near misses promptly.
Training and Trial Period
The first two shifts (8 hours in total) are paid training:
Shift 1: Site induction and supervised packing, with every box checked.
Shift 2: Packing independently with spot checks.
At the end of shift two, the site lead and director will decide whether to confirm the worker or release them, with the decision communicated the same day.
End-of-Shift Duties
From 4:45 pm, finish the box in hand, ensure no orders are left half-packed, stack completed parcels label-up at the hand-over point, report the final count and tidy and restock the bench. Sign out at 5:00 pm.
To apply: Please apply if you have relevant packing experience, can reliably work the specified afternoon hours and are available to start as soon as possible
