Freight Forwarding Sales Executive Overview

I am currently recruiting for an experienced, ambitious and highly motivated Freight Forwarding Sales Executive to join an established Irish freight forwarding and logistics business with over 30 years' experience providing international freight and supply chain solutions.

This is a commercially driven, new-business-focused sales position suited to an experienced freight forwarding professional who enjoys prospecting, opening doors, developing opportunities and closing profitable business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, approaching and securing new customers requiring international freight forwarding, customs clearance and logistics services.

My client is particularly interested in candidates who have a proven track record of generating new freight business and who are confident selling to importers, exporters, manufacturers and distribution companies throughout Ireland.

Freight Forwarding Sales Executive Responsibilities

Proactively identify, target and secure new freight forwarding customers

Generate new sales opportunities through telephone prospecting, direct customer visits, networking, referrals and LinkedIn

Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified sales prospects

Arrange and attend customer meetings with business owners, managing directors, purchasing managers and logistics decision-makers

Prepare and present competitive freight and logistics proposals

Negotiate rates, secure contracts and convert opportunities into profitable trading accounts

Develop new European road freight business, including FTL and groupage movements

Generate new ocean freight opportunities, particularly FCL and LCL imports and exports

Identify customers requiring air freight solutions

Cross-sell customs clearance and specialist customs services

Develop relationships with Irish companies importing from and exporting to European and international markets

Work closely with operational teams to ensure customer

requirements can be delivered effectively and profitably

Achieve agreed monthly and annual new-business revenue and gross profit targets

Maintain accurate records of sales activity, customer meetings, quotations and opportunities

Manage the sales process from initial prospecting through to securing the first shipment and establishing recurring business

Monitor customer profitability and identify opportunities to increase shipment volumes

Provide regular pipeline updates and sales forecasts to managementFreight Forwarding Sales Executive

Requirements

Previous experience in freight forwarding sales or international logistics business development

Strong knowledge of European road freight, ocean freight or international transport services

Proven ability to identify prospects, generate leads and win new customers

Full driving licence

Existing relationships with Irish importers, exporters and logistics decision-makers would be highly desirable

Experience selling European FTL/groupage and international FCL/LCL services would be highly desirable

Experience working with freight forwarders, shipping lines, hauliers or NVOCCs would be highly desirable

A demonstrable record of developing profitable new customer accounts would be highly desirableWhy Join?
