<p class="text-muted mb-3">Mon - Friday - 9:00 - 17:00 (7 hours per day) 1 hour unpaid lunch.</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">Our client is currently recruiting for a Customs and Operations Clerk to join their growing team based in Wickford, supporting import/export customs and import operations.</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">The customs team are responsible for ensuring that all import and export activities of the organisation are handled in accordance with all national and international regulations and controls. As a Customs and Operations Clerk, you’ll become an integral part of a close-knit team that supports the daily movement of goods across borders and be involved in import operations; arranging deliveries and providing a high level of customer service to their clients.</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">Main Duties and Responsibilities:</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Completing customs entries for both imports and exports.</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Managing customs enquiries and audits, liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders as necessary.</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Be aware of legislation and changes in regulation impacting customs processes.</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Monitor the Customs duty/VAT deferment statements to ensure that all deferred amounts are correct and that guarantee limits are not exceeded.</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Tracking import shipments and providing timely shipment updates to clients.</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Organising collections and deliveries.</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Learn all aspects of the import and export process;</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Obtain and communicate, internally and externally, all necessary information to ensure correct measures are in place and customer needs are met;</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Liaise between Hauliers, Suppliers and agents to obtain up to date shipment information.</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Ensure customers are fully informed of the progress of their shipments;</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Provide transport companies with the relevant information to ensure customer delivery</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Ensure correct documentation is on file and act accordingly as set out in the instructions;</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Maintain all files ensuring they are costed and billed correctly in accordance with procedures provided by management;</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Cover the export operations when required;</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Any other duties as required by management for the smooth and efficient operation of the department; and</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Complete all related apprenticeship work as required.</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.</p>

<p class="text-muted mb-3">· Experience with a customs broker, freight forwarder or company with international trade is preferred</p>
